My entry for Darkhorse’s Conan Art contest. I’ve been really pressed for time with several other projects–writing and editing projects mostly, but I at least wanted to make a showing, and I figured it would also help me get back into the drawing groove, so: carefully penciled Conan, hastily penciled background; carefully painted blood spatter, then polished off with a quick color wash for Conan and mirror and the rest with gray washes. If I had more time I’d have inked it and maybe added more detail to the background, but I’m happy that I was able to squeeze out time for this at all. The core of the idea was to get a close up of Conan’s face while he slays his opponent, with plenty of blood spatter, and I think I got the essentials onto the paper. Of course, comments are welcome. Entries are posted at the Darkhorse facebook page, and they are all fantastic! Check ’em out!
