Writer’s Aliance of Fresno Workshop at Spokeasy April 5 2023
I thought I would kick off my return to my comic and blog with an announcement that I will be the Guest Facilitator for the next Writer’s Alliance of Fresno at Spokeasy Public House on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 7PM to 9PM.
The Workshop is titled “The Math of [Genre] Writing: Characters + Goals + Worldbuilding = Story”
I will be talking about how character is at the root of story, and how the things that make up a person’s character and character description, things like personality, interests, goals, likes and dislikes, the places they live and frequent, not only inform and make up their character, but also provide everything you need to tell a story. It is all connected.
And, of course, since I am a scifi, horror, and fantasy writer, I will be touching on genre aspects like designing and writing aliens, robots, and monsters, and creating other worlds, times, and dimensions.
Yeah, seems like a lot to cover in two hours, but there will be hand outs, visual aids, links posted to the Writer’s Alliance of Fresno Facebook Page, and hopefully You, my fellow writers, poets, possibly screenwriters, to help me do this!
So, yeah, really excited, and I am hoping to see a lot of friendly and familiar faces there!
Peace, love and scifi!
Oh, And as for this space, over the next few months, I will be posting concept art and illustrations and comic pages for the story I am currently working on and posting over at instagram, Spiral Legion: Phantasmagoric Pastoral, a scifi horror story set in the universe of Spiral Legion, heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli movies, but with less magic and more horror. Fun! Above is one of the images of the mech, P1CKL3S, and it’s pilot and mechanic, Enjia Kaibo.
