An inktober illustration inspired by the story “The Great Space Joke” found in my Prelude to Spiral Legion short story collection. Lori Gomax is an entertainer hoping to make it big, but humanity’s greatest achievement keeps getting in her way!
Her look here is influence in large part by Freema Agyeman, known for her role as companion Martha Jones in Doctor Who.

I love your dramatic angles that you get in your drawings. Nice work! They make you feel like you’re about to be part of the action.
Thank you, Rita! This one’s been in my mind’s eye for awhile, but when I sat down to draw it, I had to figure out where to place Lori, the ship and planet. The toughest part after that was her dress. I googled everything from Giger to Project Runway for ideas!
Is the story going to be coming back? I’m, like, all intrigued by what will happen when/if they get past “the God shield”.
