The Book Barn is located at 640 Clovis Ave, Clovis, CA 93612, on the corner of Clovis Avenue and 7th Street in Old Town Clovis.
The inaugural event will have readings, discussions and signings by FSFW members:
Roh Morgon, author of the urban fantasy novel Watcher: Book 1 of The Chosen. Fur Before Feathers, her contribution to the FSFW 2010 Anthology I Dreamed A Crooked Dream, has spun off a YA novel series about shapeshifters. Roh recently completed a novella for The Chosen series titled The Last Trace, a blend of historical and dark fantasy about a half-Cree who encounters a blood drinking demon. It will be out as an ebook sometime in this month.
Christopher Wood, founder of the Fresno Sci-Fi and Fantasy Writers and author of Q Flux, his contribution to the I Dreamed A Crooked Dream Anthology, considers himself a “mongrel American” who very early in life fell in love with speculative fiction. His fantasy short “No Two Stones” was published in Heroic Fantasy Quarterly Issue 5 and his novelette Gallop is available as an ebook at the FSFW.net Store.
Jim Geiser, an accountant by trade, is the author of the vampire short Endangered Species, his contribution to the I Dreamed A Crooked Dream Anthology. He is working on a couple of short stories, the beginnings of a political thriller and his young adult novel Cloud Sculptures, about an alien family hiding on earth in 1875.
E.A.J. Smith, author of sci-fi actioner short The Station for the I Dreamed A Crooked Dream 2010 Anthology, is hard at work on his time travel sci-fi/fantasy thriller Guardian At The Gate, his contribution for the FSFW 2012 Anthology Woadsbury. It is rumored he is also working an a young adult novel about a family that travels the country researching urban myths and legends.
Melanie “Mellie” Smith not only authored the fantasy short Making of a Monster for the I Dreamed A Crooked Dream 2010 Anthology, but she also painted the cover. She has done a tremendous amount of research for the upcoming Anthology Woadsbury, which is set in a fictional barony in England. She has two contributions for it that have important characters, themes and settings that will echo throughout most of the other stories in the anthology. If you are nice, she may regale you with stories of her dragon Estil.
Tirzah Duncan, the youngest member of FSFW and a two-time winner of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) for Ever Actor, her first novel, due out sometime next year, will be on hand discussing Actor, it’s sequel and her writing process.
And Yours Truly, Rob Lopez, creator of Forsaken Stars, the sci-fi, horror, fantasy webcomic and blog, will be sketching my characters and taking attendee requests. I’ll also be talking about current projects, which include my contributions to the upcoming FSFW Anthology Woadsbury, the Secret Santa Webcomic Exchange and January’s Comic Creators for Freedom Fund Drive.
There will also be a raffle to win prizes such as books, gift certificates and art!
