Forsaken Stars Issue Four, Page 10
Comic Con is over, I went into a post-Comic Con coma, came out of it and went right back to working on the comic. Wasn’t liking how the asteroids were coming out using the magic wand to mask and color them so had to paint them sans masking, so it took FOREVER. I hope you enjoy the final result. I’ve really got to figure out a faster way to paint these scenes. And I’m still not happy with the last few panels. The action shots should be bigger.
It must be difficult to keep friends when you have such a sordid history.
Coloring and shading can be very time-consuming, especially in Photoshop. I find that one of the advantage of using Flash, besides having very clean lines, is that it makes coloring much simpler by recognizing closed shapes.
I agree the action shots could have benefited from being bigger but its still a great page. Thank for taking time on the asteroids, I appreciate it!
Occasionally, and usually for walls, I’ll go ahead and use that ol’ paintbucket for closed areas, but dammit, I like the look of brushstrokes. The Classic Painter I was using before this one imitated brush strokes much more realistically, but I guess this one works better for the “sci-fi” look. But yeah, I feel like I’m being a bit hard-headed about the final result.
As for having friends, yeah, Azzi’s friends–if you can call them that–aren’t the trusting sort…
You’re welcome! I promise bigger action shots in the pages to follow. I wanted more of a Jabba’s palace to Kyton’s Workshop exterior, but I think I was married to that damned shuttle doorway. I suppose I’ll have to go all out on the interior now 😛
