It’s a showdown between Commander One and Azzi!? Trying to keep the drawing pace brisk and backgrounds to a minimum and focusing on the characters.? Still, keeping them in their environment is important, so I’m trying to keep the lighting consistent, hoping that will do some of the work.

I like how natural the position is, the looming figure is very reminiscent of Nosferatu entering the room of the damsel with his clawed shadow moving in a sexual pattern up her body. It was a sexual scene and creepy, and I get that same chill from that small piece of the panel. Not that this one was sexual, but there’s the same disconnect from what is human (or ninja) and the monster that looms, ready to do what he will, despite what the human(ninja) wants.
Thanks for catching that! While Commander One is a male, I do imagine him being cat-like in his movements, and it is a sensual panel. The shadow was drawn by hand in the original scan, but the arm and claws were added in “post” and I wasn’t sure if I’d made an impetuous choice by adding it. Thanks for validating my instincts!
