I’ve always been fascinated with blondes. There’s something angelic about them. Their light hair and eyes and skin, especially when the light hits them, they seem almost translucent. Our Captain Sera is a blonde, and lately I’ve stumbled across actresses, models, and even a couple of singers that have something of Sera in them. So I thought I would compile a list for your reading and viewing pleasure of some of my all-time favorite blondes, and even a few new ones that have hit the scene that I think are worth note. (I know women are prone to change their hair color, but I’ve tried to list those that are, well, either mostly natural or fairly committed to the color they’ve chosen.)
Leeza Gibbons—As a kid, I couldn’t take my eyes off her legs while she sat in the anchor chair while co-hosting Entertainment Tonight. Every one made a big deal out of Mary Hart’s legs, but for me, it was all about Leeza’s gams! Her twitter bio lists her as a tv/radio personality, philanthropist, caregiver advocate, entrepreneur, author, and inspirational speaker. She will be co-hosting the syndicated news magazine show America Now beginning September 12th.
Nancy O’Dell—from her twitter bio: Co-Host of Entertainment Tonight, Author of Red Carpet Furniture, RUSK Spokesperson, MDA ALS National Ambassador, Creative Memories [scrapbooking line of products] partner. Also, if I might add, stunningly beautiful.
Kate Upton–Exploding onto the scene with this year’s Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, Kate Upton has become a Social Media favorite, frequently tweeting behind the scenes photos or candids with friends at clubs, events or release parties. Keep ’em coming, Kate!
Claudia Schiffer–One of the world’s most successful models, having appeared on over 500 magazine covers. Forbes estimated her net worth at about $55m (£38m). An occasional actress, she appeared in Love Actually in 2003.
Brooklyn Decker–Last year’s SI Swimsuit cover model broke into film with the recent Just Go With It. Maybe I’m missing something, but just looking at her twitter pics, she’s got a strange sense of humor.
Aimee Teegarden–All I know about her is that I’d like to know more about her. She starred in Friday Night Lights, which I did not watch, but I’m hoping to catch her in Scream 4 and Prom and her upcoming web series Aim High.
Kirsten Storms–Currently Maxie Jones on General Hospital, most folks recognize her for her time on Days of Our Lives as Belle Black and die hard fans know her as Disney’s Zenon. The words perky and moxie come to mind when I think of Kirsten Storms. That and, well, supercute.
Taylor Swift—It’s hard to believe Taylor Swift released her first single “Tim McGraw,” then her self-titled album five years ago
already! She has 6.7 million followers on Twitter, and her latest single “Mean” strikes out at her critics. She’s already writing songs striking out at her critics? She’s 21! Michael Jackson didn’t bust out “Leave Me Alone” until he was nearly 29, and he’d been in the music business since he was five! Anyway, Taylor’s song is fairly innocuous and the video is mild by comparison. I hope she maintains her openness and charm for many years to come.
Faith Hill—One of the most radiant women in Country Music, Faith was ranked #16 on Billboard’s Top 25 Country Artists of the past 25 years!… http://bit.ly/bTtxWA Married to Tim McGraw, she is one half of a very powerful and benevolent couple. In June 2010, they organized Nashville Rising, a benefit concert aimed to raise $2 million for The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee in response to the flood in early May that killed 22 people and caused $2 billion in damage. She is set to put out an album late in 2011.
Shannon Tweed—Her twitter bio boils down her life to: Mom,Gene Simmons’ love, (ex not x) actress, dog rescuer. Currently shooting Gene Simmons Family Jewels for A&E.We’re BAAAACK! TUES NIGHTS ON A&E. I’m really bummed she considers herself an ex actress because she’s always had a passion and sincerity in her work—even when her work was low-budget erotic thrillers. Miss November, 1981, for Playboy magazine, she was named Playmate of the Year 1982. She’s one of the reasons I started putting this list together, having just heard about her ending her 20+ year relationship with Gene Simmons of KISS fame. I’ve been a fan of them both for most of my life, so I wish them both well. Of course, if I was Gene…
Sasha Bonilova—One of the breakout Playmates of this year—or any year—Miss May 2011 hails from the Ukraine. Her twitter bio lists her as an interior designer with a passion for dancing.
Christina Aguilera—The pop princess has become a pop diva, and has come a long way since her days as a member of Disney’s New Mickey Mouse Club. From her bubblegum “Genie in a Bottle,” to her steamy “Dirrrty,” to her empowering “Beautiful,” Xtina has always had a rich, luxurious voice you just want to curl up in. Currently a coach on NBCs The Voice, she recently tweeted that “My boobs are the 5th judge”;)”
Bridget Marquardt—Self proclaimed Queen Of Halloween, she is coming out with a line of Halloween Costumes this fall. You may know her from her shows E! Girls Next Door Seasons 1-5 and the Travel Channel’s Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches.
Alison Sweeney–Sami Brady on Days of Our Lives, Ali also hosts Biggest Loser. When my sis Veronica asked me what I wanted for my birthday one year, I told her Alison Sweeney’s autobiography—and she got it for me! One of the few biographies I own.
Sara Jean Underwood–Playboy’s 2007 Playmate of the Year and host on G4TV. Yesterday she covered the World Naked Bike Ride for Attack of the Show–you guessed it–naked. Now that’s what I call journalistic integrititty.
Keep an eye out for Blondes! Part Two: Ashley Tisdale, Elisha Cuthbert, Gwen Stefani, Blake Lively, Billie Piper, Kaley Cuoco, Julianne Hough, Kym Johnson, Rhian Sugden, Heather Morris, Marissa Miller, Candice Swanepoel, Jessica Simpson, Dianna Agron
And here’s a sneak Preview of Redheads! (Ali helped me with this list!): Marilu Henner, Christina Hendricks, Karen Gillan, Lindsey Lohan, Jillian Anderson, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnette, Emma Stone, Laura Prepon, Susan Sarandon, Alyson Hannigan, Carrot Top, Jullian Moore, Marcia Cross, Alicia Witt, Rose McGowan, Bryce Dallas Howard, Florence Welsh, Molly Ringwald, Lily Cole, Nicole Kidman…
